Orientation Program
On Thursday, the batch of us who arrived last week attended an orientation program by our employer from 9am-3pm. We received a folder containing the Associate Handbook. It states out the resort's vision, mission, values, general practices and philosophies, all the various policies, job related practices and rules etc.
There were fruits, yoghurt, coffee & tea, apple and orange juice provided throughout the orientation, so nice of them.
The first task for all of us was to create a personal montage of our interests, where we come from, # of season at the resort etc using different colour markers and some stickers. I did one depicting Formula 1, Man Utd, Merlion, table-tennis, billiards and soccer. After completion, all of us took turns to stand up to explain about our personal montage.
The HR personnel then went through the below mentioned policies with us:
1) Drug and Alcohol in the Workplace
2) Housing/License Agreement
3) Sexual Harassment
4) Facilities Usage
5) Electronic Mail, Voice Mail, Computer and Internet Use
6) Appearance Standards
There was a break for lunch somewhere in between though so it was still bearable. Towards the end of the orientation we were each given a part of a picture. The members of the first two groups to finish assembling the photos together were each given a voucher that can be exchanged for a free burger/sandwich and a beverage at the lakeside marketplace. My group came in first so I won a voucher.
After the orientation I went to check my work schedule:
Bistro
22 May - 10am to ? (meaning knockoff time is not fixed)
23 May - 10am to 8pm
28 May - 10am to ?
I am only scheduled to work only 3 out of the 7 days, so few, maybe I will go work in other dept such as houskeeping on my off days. Anyway after checking schedule then went to the activities center with Mingna, Xuemin and Alex to buy a cap and a water bottle for Alfie as he is leaving the island soon. After buying the gifts went back room to wash up, relax for a while then went for dinner. Played pool and daidee in the common area (Quorum) for a while before going back to my room and rest for the night.
