Day 1 & 2

Thanks to all the people who went to send me off: Dear, dad&mum, kangwei, mingwei, shufen, clarabelle, gua and Hansheng, realli appreciate it.

After more than 40 hrs (including 20hrs of flight time), i finally arrived at the beautiful Mackinac Island, Michigan! it has been a long 2 days for me, taking 4 different flights to reach my destination.

Singapore to Taipei 4 hrs 40 mins
Taipei to Los Angeles 11hrs 45 mins
Los Angeles to Detroit 4hrs 11 mins
Detroit to Pellston 1 hrs 15 mins

Watched 4 movies on the flights: Confessions of a Shopaholic, Mall Cop, Hotel for Dogs, The Handsome Suit.

At Taipei, went to have some snacks and also looked around a Hello Kitty theme shop. Then off we go to take the longest flight out of the four. Close to 12hr of flight time to Los Angeles.

At Los Angeles, initially we wanted to go to a nearby city to walk around since the flight is about 8hr away. But after claiming our baggage and recheckin for our Detroit flight, we were left with about 4-5hr so we decided to enter the transit area and rest. Shared a BK meal with cheewee then rested at the boarding area for the rest of the time.

Upon reaching Detroit, we saw that there's A&W in the airport. But realised it was under renovation. Then we ate breakfast at Charley's Grilled Subs.

After reaching Pellston airport, we took a 15-min car ride to Sheplers Ferry where we waited to take a 16-min ferry to Mackinac Island. While waiting we went around the nearby shophouses to take a look.

The view was magnificent around Mackinac Island, we walked for about 15min to reach Mission Point Resort where we first settled into our housing b4 having lunch. Still suffering from abit of jet lag i guess, cheewee and i slept from 5pm till 530am on the next day. Today we'll be having one full day of rest, meeting the HR dept at 2pm tmr. Btw there's a minus 12hr difference betw here and Singapore (e.g. 7am here means 7pm in Singapore on the same day). The weather here is quite cooling, around 5deg c but will be increasing from june onwards.
