'Singapore Day'

Thursday
Worked 6pm-12am at the Round Island. It was super busy, partly because it was starting to rain outside and the Bistro had to be closed early. As a result, many people might cancel their plans to go downtown for dinner and stay in the resort for dinner.

my schedule for the upcoming week is out:
17 July - 12pm-? (Bistro)
18 July - 10am-? (Bistro)
19 July - 10am-? (Bistro)
20 July - 10am-? (Bistro)
21 July - 10am-? (Bistro)
22 July - 10am-3pm (Bistro), leaving for Chicago road trip in the evening
23 July to 25 July - OFF (away on Chicago road trip)

Friday ('Singapore Day')
Woke up early in the morning to help out Chef Eric in preparing the cafeteria lunch for 'Singapore Day'

We started with cutting the ingredients which consist of vegetables, lemons, pineapples, tomatoes, carrots, mushroom etc.

the helpers consist of Alex, Huijun, Maurine, Xuemin, Mingna, Zhong Dan, Lingling and me

we had a lot of fun preparing the food

Chef Eric is the one with the red cap

Alex stir frying the mixed vegetables in a super big rectangular cooker

I was in charge of frying the chicken parts for the lemon chicken dish (it was complimented by many people!)

we also helped to cut the pork meat for the cafeteria dinner

group pic with Justin (Executive Sous Chef) and Cyrus (Banquets server)

We had tom yum soup (Eric's recipe), lemon chicken, fried cabbage in oyster/soya sauce, mixed veg with beef/pork in chilli and veg rolls. There was a projector slideshow set up in the cafeteria to show various photos of the people who came from Singapore and some iconic pictures from Singapore. The Singapore flag that we bought in Toronto the other time had already been put up, will post photo of that another time.

Bistro wasn't opened in the morning due the bad weather so I thought I could have the rest of the day off. It turned out that it was opening at 1pm and I had to report for work there. The weather wasn't very kind to us, one moment it was sunny and the next moment it was drizzling. We didn't know whether to keep all the setup or leave them on the tables. After dinner it rained continously and my boss finally closed it down and I left at 6pm.

some photos taken at the Bistro (Vy and Mingna; Ivy at the golf counter)

After work I went to find Huijun and Maurine who had already done all the necessary checkout. They were going to leave the island and set off on their travel. After they had some food in the cafeteria and photo taking with some co-workers, a large group of went to send them off at the ferry dock.

it was yet another emotional goodbye

take care and see you all back in Singapore!
